::::: Food Chain Links :::::

(03.29.11::10.03.11)

In the midst of war,

Citizens are insecure,

When peaceful protests are met,

With violence and vindictiveness,

Demonstrations assaulted,

Without provocation,

On behalf of the status quo,

Enforcing laws according to,

Classism and wealth divisions,

And divergent views of capitalism,

In emerging news,

There is no prosperity unless,

In the midst of peace,

Truth defeats,

All efforts to the contrary and,

When culture is balanced,

Food and shelter is readily available and,

Offered freely to those with children,

Then spreading the remainder,

To those who find themselves unable,

To meet daily needs,

At least until they can,

Get on their feet,

With honorable accountability,

We are all a piece of,

The human chain link,

Whether or not we believe…

(06.07.10)

Question is

Do we love America,

More than we love fairness or,

Do we even care,

Whether the majority of our neighbors,

Who share the same values,

Have enough or,

Have any food to eat,

Question is

What defines destitution or,

Despair in a depression,

Labeled a great recession but,

Tasting like suppression,

When one considers

The bailed out banking institutions,

Increasing their fees through,

Taxes and schemes,

To citizens already stressed,

Already living on less,

Question is

Can she change from within,

Without violating her spirit,

Her freedoms,

Her willingness to bend,

The opportunity to

Mend past transgressions,

Comes often,

Comes fleeting,

Can we grasp,

The reins of peace…

(12.09.10)

Man made is,

A monetary system,

Does that make it an,

Unnatural or,

Natural cataclysm,

When men and

women and children,

Are intentionally starved of,

The very resources that,

God has given us

to survive,

It is like men are trying,

To destroy one another,

To deny hope then deploy,

Elements of hate and,

Layers of exploitation,

And then there are those,

Unafraid to call out and

Pray for unity,

Privately and publicly,

Quietly and openly,

To attempt to live in,

A peaceful and,

Mutually prosperous day.

One Coup One Too

(11.20.09)

An Ode to the Establishment,

With the power to threaten,

Worldwide economic collapse and,

The intent to deliver,

When the people are hungry for change yet,

So unprepared and unforgiving,

There is no understanding,

Calamities are induced and,

Survival is increasingly reduced,

To desperation,

‘The American Dream’ without a middle,

Class opportunity it seems is,

Just beyond reach,

A parable of paradox,

A scheme in peril,

A paradise for those deemed,

Worthy of upper,

Question being,

How long will it last,

How much more can be taken and,

Will the masses break clean and,

Fly away,

What gets lost in the wind is,

The punishing blows to our psyche,

Fathers unloading on their children,

Our fears and financial anxieties,

Years and layers of tension levels,

And unanswered prayers,

Families disorganized and,

Sons and daughters unprotected,

Minds, hearts and bodies molested with,

Too much sex and,

Love anorexia,

On the wings of hope and change,

A clarion call was made to those who,

Believe in the application of these,

Cardinal virtues of which,

To varying degrees,

We all seem to agree,

From starving artists are carved,

Creative blessings,

Merely as vessels,

Inspiring us to be thankful and,

To create our own,

Presence,

Present,

Heaven.
